Travelling in remote areas on motorcycle is a unique way to see the world. I've been fortunate to explore Nepal, Oman, India, Australia, UAE, Morocco, Europe and my home in Ireland on two wheels.
My other passion is prehospital emergency care and wilderness medicine.
The freedom of travel on two wheels is the ultimate attraction that draws me to the wilder places on our planet. The more remote and isolated the better. But we need to plan ahead and make sure we travel safely and responsibly for ourselves, our family and those we encounter along the way.
Combining my more than 20 years experience in prehospital emergency care and adventure travel by bike and trekking I have developed a two day Expedition Skills course. With material relevant to solo and group bike riders. Whether you are preparing for that rally event through desert dunes or that trip of a lifetime around the world you will learn skills that may make a difference to you in your hardest times.
On the Expedition Skills Course we cover all the standard wilderness first aid requirements, plus specific environmental awareness for high altitude, desert and wilderness/remote area travel. This syllabus goes far beyond what is taught on basic urban based first aid courses. Using the most up to date evidence based medicine guidelines. You won't find a more comprehensive course in Ireland.
Nepal offers the very best for mountain trekkers and now motorcyclists. The varied terrain from sub-tropical jungles to high altitude sub-arctic environments has something to offer all riding abilities.
The Forbidden Kingdom of Lo-Manthang is a jewel, hidden away in the Upper Mustang Valley. Restricted and isolated from Westerners until 1992, entry to the region is still heavily controlled to preserve its unique status.
I'm delighted to return to this beautiful region again in 2024 and have limited spaces available to lead you into the upper reaches of the Himalaya.

Closer to home we have the superb European Alps, easily accessible within a short journey from our shores. There are some fantastic road and off-road options for riders, whether you follow the TET or just prefer to explore your own way.
A great starting point and fun way to meet fellow bikers from all over is to visit the Stella Alpina Rally. This is Europe's highest bikers meet, held every July on the Italian/French border close to the town of Bardonecchia.
Normally held on the second Sunday in July each year it is a great opportunity to ride some off road tracks in the alps up to an altitude of 3000m.
